My home is a place to entertain guests and host

Indulgences, or as I think of them, investments for the home. Though I’ll be in this apartment for a while, I love the idea of having any living room I decorate next being centered on these lights.

My favorite chair to sit in, whether I’m working or just relaxing at home. In this corner, I like the interplay of two design icons who had a subtle but profound impact in the Philadelphia area. George Nakashima was a Japanese American designer and woodworker who I’ve admired for a while now. His studio grounds in New Hope, PA still produce furniture and host guests for architectural tours. Louis Kahn was a renowned architect whose residential projects in the area include the oft photographed Kahn Esherick House.

I love mixing up the books and objects on my coffee table. I picked up this rustic-looking table from a local Philadelphia vintage store and the chunky hexagon shaped legs were so distinctive. It was like finding a Charlotte Perriand piece in the wild but for $40 for the pair (the second table is in my bedroom.) Recently, I’ve also been getting into sculptural gold and brass accents. I love the way the sun hits the incense holder and catchall.
