Lately, I’ve been staying at my parents’ place. The house and furniture are all old and worn, but they have a kind of classic charm. Old homes and new ones each seem to have their own kind of beauty. Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend! #bedroom

I am a huge Taylor Swift fan, so when I decided to tackle this extra bedroom, I knew just what to do. I felt like I could have fun with this space since it wasn’t designated for anyone or anything. I decided to take inspiration from the Midnights album, but with a Victorian twist, so it would match our home. We took the light pink, damaged walls, and added beadboard and trim and painted them a saturated purple. I thrifted a bed and spray painted it a brass color, added decor pieces from Amazon and HomeGoods (along with thrifted items I already had), and made up the bed with a layered look from Target. It was a long process due to some odd issues with the walls not wanting to allow nails into them, but once it was done, I was so happy with the result! #MoodyStyle #ThriftedFurniture #BeadBoard

Creating a high-end, layered bedding look is actually pretty easy and can be adjusted in many ways to create interest in each of your rooms. You can always create a monochromatic look if you have more of a neutral design style. I have a vintage/moody style, so I prefer to add some color and pattern in. If you want to try it out, here’s a good formula: start with a base layer of either a solid comforter/duvet or one with a print. At the foot of the bed, add in a quilt or blanket with the opposite look (print/solid). Match the shams to the quilt or blanket. Add 1 to 2 throw pillows that tie the room together with the bedding. I love shopping Amazon for the final pieces I need as I pull a room together. I turned our 3rd room into a moody and layered space inspired by Taylor Swift’s Midnights album. There’s a lot of Easter eggs in there – see if you can find them! I chose simple, neutral curtains with a little texture for interest. I found the wooden beaded tiebacks for a natural element. The macramé moons have been a big hit for astrology girlies. The fuzzy chair gives a nod to the 70s vibe of the Anti-Hero music video. Our 1890s shingle Victorian is in the midst of her glow-up! We’ve remodeled and designed homes before, but this one is our biggest project yet. Every single room needs an overhaul – at the very least, paint, but most need much more than that. So far we have completed three rooms - the living room, the laundry room, and an extra bedroom. We are currently in the middle of our kitchen remodel, so that will make four! One thing is for certain – we are not turning this detailed beauty into a cookie-cutter new build.
