We call this space the foyer as a transitional place to welcome guests who will enter the interior of our house. The foyer is also part of our side garden which is often used for children to play. The unique thing in our house is that guests who have entered through the main door (the wooden door in the 1st picture) do not directly enter the building, but will meet this foyer hallway so that when guests enter they have the option of going straight to the backyard or enter the house through the glass door (left side in the 1st picture). #homestagram #foyer #ruangtamu #ruangtransisi #rumahtropis #minimalis #tropisminimalis #dekorasiruangtamu #dekorasirumah #Rumah #rumahkecil

The SFhaus floorplan is designed with an open space ‘terrace house’ concept as is typical in Malaysia and Australia. The first floorplan proposed by our architect was rejected, so the second floorplan was designed to be bolder, more experimental, unorthodox, and idealistic with a KDH of 56%. This layout was created because the house was designed ‘function follows form’. This design is definitely not for everyone and we are unapologetic about it. SFhaus includes tropical features of colonial jengki houses that are very rarely found because they seem old-fashioned. The approach is tropical bioclimatic. Living, kitchen, and inner court are connected into one to the backyard dining, with an unbroken circulation flow to the 2nd floor. The main point of this house is in the 7 m high ventilated inner court which functions as a connecting point between spaces, making it easy to call each other. The challenge of an open space house is privacy. So, the architect arranged for there to be personal space zoning. In our opinion, a house that is too open is uncomfortable, just like a studio apartment that has been enlarged, there is no spatial experience. Architects arrange for privacy to be maintained from outsiders even when all windows are opened. Common challenges such as mice, insects, noise, etc. are already prevented. Of course, a house with many openings means a lot of dust. What surprises guests who come is that our house is cool and breezy during the day, and there are few mosquitoes at night. The advantages of an open space house with a bioclimatic concept are: - Energy efficient. Electricity costs around IDR 900,000 per month. - The daytime temperature from 12-2 is maintained at around 28° (during the rainy season like now it can drop 2-3°) with a relative humidity of 50-55% via a digital hygrometer. Most houses with many openings still feel stuffy, hot, comfortable with AC, and lots of mosquitoes because they do not detail the principles of bioclimatic physics. - Ergonomic layout. The house follows the habit, not the habit follows the house. - Breezy, cool, not humid in all areas - Bright but not roasting during the day - Few mosquitoes #OpenSpaceHouse #RumahTanpaSekat #RumahLega #Ruglivingroom #Karpetkotak #furniturantik #ConsoleTable #midcenturymodern

The SFhaus kitchen is the most time-consuming area during the design process because it is compact but has many needs. The color palette used is ivory white, olive green, dark brown, and bronze. This kitchen design reflects our quirky and maximalist personality. This 7.9-meter long kitchen has features such as: LPG storage in the warehouse, direct LPG piping to the warehouse, hidden pull-up water gallon storage, built-in drinking water fountain, hidden separated dry & wet waste bin, pull down dish rack, hidden backsplash storages for knives-pans-spices, wine cellar, cabinets using a combination of HMR and PVC, and a kissa-style dining table. The dining table here is also used as a place for laptops, children to do assignments, and drink liquor. We placed a large brown mirror to give the illusion of space. This peninsula kitchen layout is designed to prioritize ergonomics that are motion saving for the work triangle of three activities: cooking, baking, cleaning. This kitchen is heavy-duty, not a GoFood kitchen, so the workflow is carefully thought out. For each activity flow, users will not take more than 1 step, just turn around. The aisle width of 1.2 m is comfortable for 2 people. Since this house is designed with a tropical bioclimatic concept, the circulation of air pollution has been calculated physically so that it is quickly disposed of with a negative pressure concept towards the open-aired inner court, facade service vents, and entrance corridors through the permeable main door. We also use a cooker hood with high suction power (700 m3/h). Onsite simulation testing uses colored smoke. We chose a sintered stone table top and backsplash that has a natural stone motif with a matte ivory white texture, with shark nose edging. This motif was chosen because it is very similar to the granite tile in the living room and is not common. At first glance it looks plain but when exposed to light, the texture is elegant and blends with the vibe of the house. Table top has 3 levels of height according to ergonomics per function area: - Cooking at 85 cm, following the height of the main user's elbow - Serving at 90 cm, so that the showmanship aspect when serving is like the feel at a kissa / sushi bar - Dining at 75 cm, more comfortable, intimate, and not sore like island bar stools in general #StylingDapur #KitchenSet #DiningRoom #DapurMungil #MakeOverDapur #DapurImpian
