In stark contrast to the apparel shop-like space, the living room was designed with a simple, modern feel.
I wanted a modern and symbolic lighting space, so I installed a ceiling light by Serge Mouille from IDEE.
I looked elsewhere, but most of these modern lights tended to be high-end, like those in high-rise apartments, so this was the only choice I had.
I like the structured design of the sofa, so I bought a 2-seater FSB model from Tres the Sofa Tailor.
I was also considering the SIESTA flannel sofa, but the seat of Tres' FSB is deeper, so there is more than enough room for two people to lie down, and I liked the cushioning, so I went with this one.
I'm still using the side table, the now-discontinued K24 by Tekta, which I've been using since I was at my parents' house.

Speaking of creating space,
I wanted to use it in a way that would make the space feel as spacious as possible, so I kept things to a minimum as much as possible.
However, this makes it look a little bleak, so I hung Hatano Wataru's washi paper as art on the walls.
It's only attached with a clay-like "sticky bug," so only the natural thickness of the washi paper adds to the space.
I feel like that alone makes it feel a bit like a gallery, and maybe even overseas?
Another important point is that I placed the sofa away from the wall.
If you place the sofa against the wall, it gives the impression that you are approaching the wall when you approach the sofa.
So, by placing the sofa away from the wall, you don't feel the pressure of facing the wall, and it feels more spacious.

We don't have a TV in our home.
That's because I want my children to spend time with books and nature.
So, should we get a sideboard or a bookshelf?
After much deliberation, I ultimately decided on a bookshelf.
The sideboard has a beautiful appearance,
and I also liked the fact that it hides the living space behind the doors.
However, having a bookshelf there has made it possible for my children to easily reach for books.
The spines lined up may look a little cluttered,
but I believe that being able to read at any time is what gives us a sense of richness right now.

I purchased the art from Lucas Scandinavia. It was painted around 1920 by a Danish artist named Olafurd, and I love the atmosphere it creates🖼️
