Zen House, as the owner of this residence calls his house, is a building that stands majestically among the trees of Dago Pakar Bandung. As the name suggests, this building tries to maintain a simple minimalist appearance by prioritizing harmony between body and mind. It's not surprising that even though it stands majestically among nature, the Zen House still looks blended in, especially with the use of wooden accents on the facade. Because of its function as a facade, the choice of the right material really needs to be considered as best as possible because the hot sun and rain will be your daily companions. Shera was chosen because the material is made from cellulose cement so you don't need to worry about weather changes, especially since it won't warp even when exposed to the sun. The Story Behind Our Home - JEANHOUSE This house started from what used to be an old house—the first challenge we had to face. The process began two years before we got married, with the hope that it would be a comfortable first home for us to live in after getting married. One of the main reasons we chose this location was because it was next to our parents' house, so it felt like we were still close to family. But building a house turned out to be much more complicated than we imagined. From the planning stage to the finishing, there was always new drama every day. Starting from choosing materials that matched the surrounding environment, looking for vendors who could realize our dream design, to the headache of choosing furniture and decorations that matched our style. Every decision felt like a test of patience. Finally, after a long journey full of trial and error, this house is done! I feel relieved and proud to see the final result, although until now there are still small leaks that have not been resolved. Understandably, every house must have its own story, right? Our house is dominated by large glass for a wider accent and to bring natural light to the entire room. To maintain privacy, the glass is coated with one-way glass film — keeping the inside hidden from the outside without reducing the beauty of this modern minimalist design. Affordable materials available in our house: 1. The canopy part of the carport as a layer under the tempered glass uses bamboo slats, besides being cheaper, the appearance is also attractive. 2. The backyard because of lack of sunlight so the grass does not grow well, the alternative is we use stone, but we use split stone bought at a hardware store, the cost is cheaper than using decorative stone and the appearance also seems more in tune with nature. 3. For the kitchen toptable and backsplash using the same material, using granite tiles measuring 320x160 one sheet divided into two, the price is much cheaper than natural marble and the resistance to stains is better because there are no pores. 4. The stairs initially wanted to use real wood but after calculating the budget it was more economical to use conwood, and the results were also good like wood because there were fibers, easy maintenance.
