• Foyer •

The front part of the house, a place to welcome guests who come.

The hanging lamp, cuckoo clock, mini piano and vintage furniture in this room are its own characteristics.
You could say this room has the most vintage vibe.

Still around the living room, I really like the combination of colors in this room, starting from the furniture, sofa and the colors of the spc and wpc, making the atmosphere warmer. Dominated by wood & rattan elements.

The SFhaus floorplan is designed with an open space ‘terrace house’ concept as is typical in Malaysia and Australia. The first floorplan proposed by our architect was rejected, so the second floorplan was designed to be bolder, more experimental, unorthodox, and idealistic with a KDH of 56%. This layout was created because the house was designed ‘function follows form’. This design is definitely not for everyone and we are unapologetic about it.

SFhaus includes tropical features of colonial jengki houses that are very rarely found because they seem old-fashioned. The approach is tropical bioclimatic.

Living, kitchen, and inner court are connected into one to the backyard dining, with an unbroken circulation flow to the 2nd floor. The main point of this house is in the 7 m high ventilated inner court which functions as a connecting point between spaces, making it easy to call each other.

The challenge of an open space house is privacy. So, the architect arranged for there to be personal space zoning. In our opinion, a house that is too open is uncomfortable, just like a studio apartment that has been enlarged, there is no spatial experience. Architects arrange for privacy to be maintained from outsiders even when all windows are opened. Common challenges such as mice, insects, noise, etc. are already prevented. Of course, a house with many openings means a lot of dust.

What surprises guests who come is that our house is cool and breezy during the day, and there are few mosquitoes at night.

The advantages of an open space house with a bioclimatic concept are:
- Energy efficient. Electricity costs around IDR 900,000 per month.
- The daytime temperature from 12-2 is maintained at around 28° (during the rainy season like now it can drop 2-3°) with a relative humidity of 50-55% via a digital hygrometer. Most houses with many openings still feel stuffy, hot, comfortable with AC, and lots of mosquitoes because they do not detail the principles of bioclimatic physics.
- Ergonomic layout. The house follows the habit, not the habit follows the house.
- Breezy, cool, not humid in all areas
- Bright but not roasting during the day
- Few mosquitoes

This tiny dining room uses a folding table that fits the room. With a room size of only 3x3 m and located in the front room of the house, we feel quite comfortable with only 2 chairs.
As migrants, our parents often visit and at that time the folding table can be opened and chairs added. With chairs that are not too high, it makes it easier for parents to enjoy dinner.
The use of warm lighting and mood lamps adds to the serene atmosphere during dinner ✨
