I'm actually confused about what to call this area. Functionally, this area is the hallway area of the house, where the entrance is not the main one. In the past, in discussions about home design, this area was an alternative route to enter/exit the house without going through the core area of the house - the principle of security is that there are 2 entrances and exits. It is also used for the mobility of gas, gallon repairmen or other repairmen. In addition to the skylight where sunlight enters, this hallway opens directly to the open air, so it is also a route for air circulation into the core area of the house.
