✨The Facade✨
All the plants are still 6 months old here. So it's still short. 😁
The width of this facade is 12m, I'm really happy with the design which makes the house look wide. But unfortunately, when the time was right to build a basement or mezzanine, it would look higher.

To make it more tropical and/or natural, we complement it with natural decorations.
All the decorations in our house are plants, or at least have plant elements such as flowers, leaves or twigs. And it's definitely not artificial.
This is the stairs right next to the living room. The white shelf in the corner is actually a shoe rack. Then we added some decoration items to make it more interesting.
The glass vase is from Ikea. We are already familiar with this vase. Originally it wasn't a vase, but a water container, the price was IDR 20,000
I filled the vase with twigs from the Ketapang Kencana tree, so it cost me zero.

We live in a housing complex that carries a modern tropical theme, there are no changes in the form of the facade, it is still the same as the original house.
Only a little addition of a fence made of roaster material on the left side because it was a side yard that was previously not fenced at all.
And we replaced the terrace floor with cast terrazzo, as a replacement for the ceramics provided by the developer because we like the terrazzo motif and want a part of this house that uses terrazzo.
To strengthen the vibes of our tropical house, we plant a lot of plants.

Hello! This is the facade of the Semak House that you may often see, hehe.
because the location of our house is on a hook, we have a front facade and also a side facade. From the front, the facade of the house looks towards industrial modern.
for the front facade, it uses white and gray paint, and exposed cement on the fence, with an industrial box accent ala Japanese architect, Tadao Ando.
on the front facade, there is also a 1m wide overhang so that above it is like a box that is placed which makes the facade even more unique and iconic
for the side facade, the overhang is not as wide as the front, but at the back there is a roster and a glass roof where the inner court is located. this is what makes the inner court abundant in sunlight and smooth air circulation.

We call this ladder the FAN LADDER. Because its shape is like a fan. This is the connector for our house up to the 3rd floor. This place is also a spot for "looking out" through the arch window of our house, while enjoying the atmosphere of the pool.

House facade after 4 years...
Tropical Facade Concept which is dominated by various natural stones. From natural Pacitan stone, andesite stone, Palimanan stone to terracotta bricks.
The fence is made of merbau wood to create a tropical atmosphere.
We chose this tropical facade concept because it adapts to the tropical climate in Indonesia. The characteristics of a tropical house are usually touches of natural stone and green plants.

As proponents of a minimalist theme, of course we don't want to bring a lot of color into #tentramdihuni, our living room is dominated by gray and black and white with a touch of wood motif. Their combination makes this room look neat and doesn't seem crowded.

Previously, the side area of our house was planted with grass, but because sunlight did not reach the grass area, there were parts that were not alive so we decided to replace it with a dry garden (last slide for the before photo). In addition, we also added some new plants.
In our opinion, replacing the grass with gravel and adding house plants makes the appearance of the house more tropical. _

This Master Bedroom is 4x4.5 m in size with a simple layout with a 180+bed, dressing table, shelves, and reading corner.
It's quite simple, not wanting too many distractions, just functional.
The floor is made of SPC to make the villa feel warmer, the furniture and cupboards use solid teak wood, the fabric/leather chosen is still around gray and cream. The sheets and bedcover are made of soft cotton.
Most of the items are purchased from e-commerce and also online from Jepara. Decorative items such as pillows and ornamental plants, as well as DIY art frames. In addition, there are ambience hanging lamps for sleeping and reading lamps. Morning and afternoon like when the photo was taken rely on natural light from the large window in the room.

This dining room is where we gather and where we usually receive guests. When building a house, I thought about making an island table between the kitchen set and dining table. However, because the desire to have a dining table was quite high for a large family, in the end the plan was defeated. This dining table is made of wood with asymmetrical sides. The choice of dining chairs is also deliberately not uniform, with a bench on one side. If we have a lot of guests, we use "meatball" benches on both sides.
During the day, this dining table sometimes changes its function to a work desk. Meanwhile, at night, the mood is usually quite pampered with the play of light rays from decorative lights and spotlights from the swimming pool.

A little story, the combination of the green and cream facade colors was actually beyond prediction. For the green color, I bought it online and it turned out that the green in my mind was different from the green paint that arrived, but I just accepted it and tried to find out what color would be suitable for the combination from the existing paint colors at home. Initially mixed with gray but it turned out to be less of a match, the second mixed with white still didn't match haha. Finally decided to buy new paint which was also very random, choosing a derivative color from green but more neutral and found this color.
For friends who are currently painting the facade of their house, it's better to try using an application that can check the color by chat first before wasting money on a craftsman like me, hopefully it inspires you 🥰

The Backyard is about the same size as a 1-story house, maybe around 20m2 less, it can actually be used as a room building, because there is still empty space. But we prefer a large outdoor area, children can run around, run, and also set up a tent🤭

What comes to your mind when you hear a house next to a cemetery?
Scared? Scary? Taboo? And maybe there are many more negative thoughts about this. Yes, honestly, we did choose to buy this house (before it was renovated) because the selling price was very affordable. We bought this house from a relative, because this house was unoccupied so it would be a shame if it was abandoned.
For those of us who are not sensitive to mystical issues, it is easy to ignore all the negative thoughts of others. Moreover, even though it is next to a cemetery, the location of this complex is very strategic with children's schools, shopping centers and of course close to parents' houses too.
What other people don't know, the house on the hook next to the cemetery:
- there is a parking lot for guests
- access can be from the front and side
- a back garden can be made with extra roster on the side and side door.
- fresh air flows all the time
- sunlight is not blocked by buildings
- don't worry about the above things being lost because no permanent buildings will be built.
- be more self-aware because we are always reminded of death.
So wherever we live, be grateful and enjoy it. Love where you live 💙🩵

One of our budget-friendly home decorating tips is the concept of recycling. We got this bench from an auction of a closed coffee shop. We also got some carpets, runners, and mats in our house from thrifting, aka second-hand goods.
Don't be embarrassed to use thrifting items, as long as the quality of the item is suitable for use, in accordance with the concept of the house, and is definitely economical.
Another material that we use is this bathroom ceramic. The price per meter is only around 50 thousand. The tip is to look for a motif that is not too busy, less is more😃

We call this space the foyer as a transitional place to welcome guests who will enter the interior of our house. The foyer is also part of our side garden which is often used for children to play.
The unique thing in our house is that guests who have entered through the main door (the wooden door in the 1st picture) do not directly enter the building, but will meet this foyer hallway so that when guests enter they have the option of going straight to the backyard or enter the house through the glass door (left side in the 1st picture).
