The corridor area on the 2nd floor is a transit from the 1st floor. This area is a place to collect the lives of young children. Leave the bedroom before continuing your activities, stop by and lie down here first.
The decor is simple, an old sofa with a red cover, with blue pillowcases for contrast. But it matches the carpet.
The walls are decorated with wall decor so they don't look empty.

The laundry room at home is upstairs, climb the stairs on the last slide directly into my laundry room. It's simple, originally just a roof, then tidied up by installing ceramics, alderon roof, and iron bars for safety but still has air circulation.
Clothes dry quickly, not damp, no need to worry about getting rained on. ☺️
Here I also use it as a storage warehouse by adding a large shelf behind the door.

Let's talk about the stairs in our house!
In this small house, there are two stairs. One goes to the 2nd floor and the other to the 3rd floor. The fun thing is, these two stairs use different materials! We chose permanent cement for the first staircase, so that the area below it can be used for cabinets. While the second staircase uses iron, so that light from the skylight can penetrate to the area below.
Because of the limited space, the staircase design is made in a U-shape. Although the materials are different, the design remains uniform, so it looks harmonious.
To maximize light, we added a skylight above the 3rd floor. So, from morning to afternoon you can enjoy the sunlight, and at night you can peek at the stars from there.

Family Room ✨
One way we worked around it so that #BruwnHouse which stands on 70m2 of land is to not add a lot of furniture. Like in this family room, only with a carpet but it does not reduce the main function, which is to gather with family members.
Oh yes, we also use the space under the stairs for storage so that it looks neat but remains functional. ✨

Something trivial, but crucial: stairs 🪜
Because here we are talking about safety, comfort, and also look—it is fitting in our house.
Initially, the stairs on the 1st floor in #RumahSeupil were not like the ones in this photo. It was a complete failure! Steep and messy, I suspected that the craftsman was an amateur. THEN, I changed craftsmen to someone who usually makes iron stairs and the result was much neater and more pleasing to the eye (I don’t know why) like the proportions fit perfectly in the house. It was comfortable to use, not steep at all.
The point is, you can’t just make stairs carelessly. You have to be careful in choosing the craftsman, because a real craftsman understands: 1) the distance between 1 step and the other 2) the ideal size of the steps and the height of the railing 3) the choice of iron paint ✨

Affordable materials in #rumahmaknaa
One of the most expensive costs when building a house is finishing. From the start, we wanted a house with wooden elements to give a warm impression. Honestly, we wanted to use teak wood which is known to be strong and durable but it's expensive 😫.
Due to the limited budget, we finally adjusted some things, for example:
1. Choosing to use Dutch teak wood instead of teak wood as stair treads. The price is much cheaper than teak wood and thank God it's still good after 3 years.
2. Choosing to use vinyl instead of parquet flooring. In addition to being cheaper, vinyl flooring is also claimed to be durable.
In addition, another room that we adjusted the budget for was the bathroom. We used subway tile wall tiles which are affordable.
Currently, there are more affordable materials that are functional and aesthetic. The key is to find out a lot. Hopefully the information is useful🤍.

Multifunctional Room ✨
As a family of three, this room is that useful. Yes, it can be a place to watch, a place to relax, sometimes also a place to eat even though there is already a dining table ehee .. to get around the room looking spacious, we didn't put any furniture other than a carpet and bean bags for sitting on the floor. These stairs were really steep before, but after adding wooden stairs underneath and railings, they became super comfortable. The steps are also ideal, this is important when making stairs. The size must be ideal, not just any old thing.

Small stairs, which are a bit steep due to limited land. But still relatively safe. Where is the safety standard, from our daily lives 😁 it's not that we don't want to make safe and comfortable stairs, but limited land makes us have to think hard. How can we make stairs that are still safe for us to use.
Finally we decided to make stairs with iron. The size of the stairs is 25x60 cm and coated with GRC at the bottom to keep it safe. So when one day this house grows, it is rebuilt. These stairs are easier to move or use for other things ✨

Color Palette ✨

This is my favorite part of the house! At first glance it looks like an outdoor yard, but this is indoor with a 6m++ high alderon canopy roof.
This room gives the impression of a bright and spacious house. It is even more beautiful with small green plants on the stairs. I usually do yoga and meditation in the afternoon here.
