What makes this house not open space is the kitchen area which has been closed by a partition/wall from the start. But there are Pros and Cons too, ➕ Pros: • The smell of smoke from the kitchen does not go directly to other rooms. • If the kitchen is messy, it is not directly visible to guests/from the entrance. ➖ Cons: • The abundant sunlight from the back of the house (kitchen) does not enter other rooms. • Makes other rooms narrower because of the wall partition (not Open Space) So we outsmarted it by changing the wall color to white on the walls of the entire house when we first moved in. Also placing compact, small and minimalist furniture so that other rooms still have space left. My dining room is 1.5 x 1.5 m connected to the kitchen area in a line. We always use this dining room when eating together or just relaxing for a moment with my husband and children. The distance between the dining room and the kitchen is only 1 meter. To make the dining room look spacious, I use a white dining table with wooden leg patterns with matching white wall paint and venetian. Without a lot of cutlery or decorations on the dining table/wall, it makes it easier for me to clean the dining table area every day.
