From Bat Nest to Room "with a view" The balcony area in this room used to be just a "toilet" for bats. Because the house is located near the road, the balcony area of this room gets dusty easily so it ends up being neglected. Seeing the beautiful view of the garden in front of the house where the trees are getting bigger, I feel it would be a shame if it wasn't used. Finally I decided to renovate this empty room with a balcony. With the help of my sister, who is an interior designer, Aisyah Hanani, I want to expand the room area by just dismantling this balcony area. The room which was initially dark, finally had 2 new openings made with large windows. One window maximizes the view of the front of the house, while the window on the side is for the AC service area. The position of the windows and layout of my room was helped by my sister who is an interior designer. However, unfortunately during the work there was a difference in wall thickness between the old room and the balcony. It can be seen from the line accents where the bedroom wall meets the balcony and on the top wall. Because smoothing the walls can take a lot of time, we ended up leaving the imperfections alone. From “Horror” to Aesthetic with Lighting🌿👩‍🎨 The most aesthetic room in my house is my bedroom window. I took advantage of the view of the front garden of the house which is often considered "Horror" by Indonesian people, with a super large window measuring 200x150cm. Psst, this is a rare sight in Bekasi City, so you have to make the most of it👀 For me, the selling point of this room is the view from the window every time! From bright lights during the golden hours until night! Each time has its own beauty. Assisted by outdoor lighting above the window, the spotlight from the lamp gives a depth effect to the leaves and trees. So the trees exposed to this light look like a natural painting. The concept for this room has a minimalist impression with a moodboard of white, pink, hemlock wood and gold accents. So the furniture you choose must match the color & shape. For indoor lighting there are two modes: warm light when I want to rest, and bright white when I want to work. I place this aesthetic area as my work area. The lighting atmosphere in my room before breaking the fast & after sahur✨ Here I played with lighting from inside the room and lighting from outside. When I want to rest, I use a warm colored night light and a warm colored hanging lamp near the bed area too. Meanwhile, for the outside lights, I used a 20 watt white spotlight lamp. The most comfortable room, dream since childhood✨ Having my own room has been my dream since I was little, and it only came true when my older sister got married. This is an empty room that I finally renovated from my own salary. Of course, this room is a sweet spot for me. I put all my preferences, personality and habits into this room design. I turned the garden in front of the house which had been annoying because there were lots of bats and looked scary, so I turned it into an "advantage" of this room. I really like sitting and looking at the trees during golden hours or 12.00-15.00. I think the sunlight penetrating through the leaves & swaying branches is really beautiful🥺✨ Therefore, for this special spot I really selected the existing furniture. Of course, apart from aesthetics, I want furniture that is functional and in harmony with the style of my room. Like the Helsinki work desk from iFURNHOLIC which has lots of compartments so my room is tidier. For the work chair, I chose a simple and modern cutting from IKEA, namely the JARVFJALLET work chair. For additional storage, I DIYed my own wall shelf with gold foil so it had a gold mirroring look, for the base I used Dutch teak boards to make it cheaper. Change the room layout according to your needs✨ This time I changed the layout of my work area a little by moving the table which usually faces the window to the opposite direction. So the view of the work desk that is usually "introverted" like a twilight child has become the vibe of office bosses, wow gadengg. Goodbye Scandinavian, Hello Artdeco Contemporary! Different from the interests of most people who like Scandinavian style, my taste falls on a style that is not very popular in Indonesia, namely Artdeco Contemporary. However, pursuing this concept is still difficult because there is not much furniture or decorative items in the contemporary art deco style. So the decoration elements and furniture in this bedroom initially tended to be more Scandinavian style. To eliminate the Scandinavian style in my room, I replaced some of the wood finishes with peach pink and gold colors. Like the mattress that I covered with a headboard in the shape of cupcakes that I bought at the Shopee HeyJune store! Apart from that, I also covered the wooden wall shelves with pink terrazzo motif furniture stickers. I also chose furniture and decoration items with an arch shape. Such as photo frames, work chairs and hanging lamps. I DIYed some of the gold accents in my room myself with gold leaf, because it's difficult to find art deco decorations with gold accents here. The costs I spent to get rid of this Scandinavian style were quite a lot and I did it gradually one by one. For example, to change the look to gold accents with gold leaf, I spent around IDR 200,000 for all items. To change the look of wood with terrazzo furniture stickers, the budget costs around Rp. 180,000, for a custom nightstand around 1.4 million and for the bed headboard, the budget costs around 438,000. Welcome Guests In A New Atmosphere Because my parents are community figures in my neighborhood, so during Eid I will definitely receive lots of guests, finally this year's Eid I decided to makeover the living room at home. The way I refreshed the room was by replacing the wall paint with Dulux Weathershield paint in the color of the pillars. I also replaced the bone white curtains and raised the height of the curtains until they hit the ceiling to give the illusion of the room being more spacious. As an accent, I added orange sofa pillows to make the color of the living room fresher when welcoming guests.
