The living room is the center of all our activities — from playing, reading books, watching together, to casual chats. That's why we try to arrange this area so that it remains aesthetic but still alive & functional.
Half of the TV shelf is filled with toys and children's books so that they are easy to reach, the other half is just decorated to please the eyes ✨
The carpet? An old carpet left by my parents that turns out to still be very suitable for the mid-century feel in this house.

When we moved into this house, our family and I were determined that we wanted to create our dream living room slowly and without being lazy. So most of the things we put in the living room are old things, such as sofas left by our parents, used space heaters, children's school bags that are no longer used, and even my husband's wooden stairs. However, the choice of items that we put in this living room must also be in harmony with the 'identity' of the living room that we want to create, namely a living room with a retro Japanese or Mid-century Japanese feel 🍃🤎

It can be called IKEA Living Room, because almost all the furniture and decorations we use are from IKEA, from sofas, side tables, floor lamps, table lamps, lounge chairs, hourglasses, and frames. In this living room, my husband is actually more creative. Because of his interest in the Mid Century style, we slowly tried to decorate it to match the MCM style. According to him, many MCM decoration items have unique shapes and attractive colors. Personally, I prefer Japandi Minimalist and I apply it in our kitchen. Hehehe..
