Our small living room.
I have a cat, so I keep some of my stuff in an IKEA Billy Oxberry to keep it from getting hairy.
Cushions that can be used to store futons are very useful when the sofa is broken. I was having trouble finding storage space in my small rental property, so this is helping me kill two birds with one stone.
Also, make sure the rug is washable. Little Rooms' rugs are water-repellent and antibacterial, and many of them are washable, so I always use them.

I have a large bookshelf in my bedroom.
The bookshelf is a Billy from IKEA. The low-profile ones seem to be popular, but I bought two huge ones.
The glass doors protect the books from sun and dust, and prevent the room from becoming cluttered with all those colorful volumes. Having the doors is also reassuring in case of an earthquake.
The books are roughly divided into essays, a food-related section, poetry collections (poetry, haiku, tanka), catalogs, mysteries, manga, and other miscellaneous genres.
What's scary is that I have a pile of unread books totaling 4/5 of the books. I wish I could read them sooner, but I can't help it since I buy them faster than I can read them. 🤭📚
