A living room filled with natural light The designers designed numerous north-facing windows to minimize the need for light except at night. ┈┈┈ Our first home Delivered in July 2023. The plan to build a house began about six years ago, when we first began imagining a "vintage furniture museum"—a place where the furniture would take center stage, a little different from a hotel-like feel. We focused on the vintage furniture we'd collected while living in an apartment. The solid wood flooring was stained dark brown to match the furniture we'd collected, the wallpaper was painted to create a textured look when light hit it, and the color was white to highlight the furniture. Since lounging around rather than sitting on the sofa suits our home, we requested a downstairs living space. The kitchen was hidden to allow the furniture to take center stage, and a utility room was created... The kitchen is hidden, and the appliances are in the utility room at the back. We intentionally avoided connecting it to the living room, creating a space with a slightly secluded feel. You can concentrate on cooking, make something with the kids, or sneak in a snack in the utility room. To the right of the utility room is a refrigerator and built-in shelves (for bread boxes, fruit, coffee and tea supplies, snacks, etc.). To the left is a rice cooker, oven, toaster, and coffee machine (we'll be buying one soon). My parents' kitchen had a waist-high wall, and when I was little, my job was to carry the food lined up on top of it to the dining room. A hidden kitchen for enjoying personal time An island would be nice and spacious, but being visible would have led to more and more details, which would have significantly increased costs. And most importantly, I wanted to hide the kitchen-like appliances and make the living room the focal point of the second floor. The utility room, where the appliances are kept, is a place to enjoy a little alone time, even when the family is around, or sneak in a snack. lol Since the living room is modern, I use this space to display a variety of things I like. I'd like to eventually put a coffee machine in there and make it like a little cafe.
