[ Organizing Towels One by One ] Towels are items that should always be kept clean and fluffy. Since the feeling of them touching your skin is important, it is an area that requires more attention. Especially on hot days like these, I tend to use several a day, but if I don’t wash them every day, there is nothing more embarrassing than not having a towel to use after washing. For me, who ends the day with a shower, the warmth of a fluffy towel is healing. When I wrap my face with the subtle scent of detergent, the moment I feel fluffy and thick, my fatigue from the day disappears. Towels need to be neatly organized today to use them comfortably. Each household has different ways to organize towels. After using various methods, I have now come to stick to the method that I am used to. I think the same goes for housekeeping. Rather than ‘finding the right answer,’ I think it is more appropriate to ‘find a taste that suits me.’ And that taste also seems to change depending on the time. I think it’s because I didn’t start out doing housework, but rather, I learned and settled in as I lived. I didn’t have confidence or assurance about starting a new household, so I tried to apply the methods that others said were good to me and did the methods that I could do comfortably, and at some point, I settled in with my own method. The same goes for organizing towels. I tried rolling them up in a hotel-style towel folding method, organizing them in an easy and simple way, and tried various other methods. Among them, I chose a method that suited my life. The way I organize towels is like origami. If you fold them in order and keep them, they won’t come undone one by one, and it’s easy to store them in a drawer and take them out one by one. I like it because they don’t get messed up when I store them in the bathroom drawer, and it’s easy to take them out one by one when I use them. My husband still asks me, “How do you fold towels?” “Okay, watch me do it and fold it like I did.” “Fold in half, fold it into a triangle, turn it over, fold it into another triangle, turn it over, fold the 1/3 point, fold it the other way, and put it in the middle.” (It looks difficult when written down, but it’s easier than you think.) I guess I’m still not used to folding towels. I’m so used to it that I can fold it with my eyes closed. It seems like it’s not easy to change a habit that’s ingrained in my life. It’ll probably change as a habit over time. When I see towels neatly arranged and lined up in their proper places, it looks neat and gives me a sense of stability. It’s nothing special, but when I do my housework well, my mind becomes much more at ease.
