Record Club Seventh Post📝 [Conversation] There is no end to laughter in children's conversations. Even a spoon seems funny. Words like fart, poop, booger, and burp are also laughter buttons. Adults frown upon hearing them, but children shiver. They are also a regular subject in picture books. <Who Pooped on My Head?>, <Farting Daughter-in-Law>, <Poop-Stir-Fried Grandmother>... Every time I read Baek Hee-na's <Candy Candy>, the children burst into laughter at the desperate cry of the sofa asking their father to stop farting. When my husband farts loudly, "Ppuang", I shout "Dad, I farted!!" and cover my nose for a moment, but I am too busy laughing to notice. I am the only one who frowns. (I think I deserve it because I didn’t fart at my husband) Sometimes, my husband’s farts sound like speech, so I answer him in the kitchen by saying, “What~?” This is like a conversation with a fart… There is also a record of a conversation I had with my children on the last morning of June. I was reading a book when the children who were eating bread next to me stopped talking and called me. Jiwoo: “Mom, Jisoo keeps talking informally to me.” Me: (Not taking my eyes off the book, casually) “In foreign countries, everyone just calls me by my name.” Jiwoo: “This isn’t a foreign country.” Jisoo: (Playfully rolling her pronunciation) “I’m French, Jyuu~” Me: “You don’t speak French?” Jisoo: (Continuing to roll her pronunciation) “I learned Korean~” It’s a shame that I couldn’t put the accent into words in this conversation. Everyone laughed until they cried at Jisoo’s perfect imitation of a foreigner. It was like she was a French person who really spoke Korean well. In addition, it was Santa Claus's way of speaking. He also lost both of his front teeth, so he was perfect at acting funny! I also remember the conversation I had with Jisoo before going to school. Jisoo says while eating Greek yogurt. "Mom, the teacher said that you will be blessed if you eat food in one bite." "Is that so? Jisoo listens well to the teacher and remembers well." (Taking a small spoonful of yogurt) "I should scoop it up like this and eat it in one bite." The influence that a single word from an adult can have on a child is this great. What kind of words am I telling my child? 'Words without legs travel a thousand miles.', 'If you speak kindly, you will hear kind words in return.', 'A single word pays back a thousand nyang of debt.', 'You can't take back words once you've spoken them.'... I always say that you should be careful with your words, but I can't help but wonder if I'm actually doing a good job. Before going to bed, I censor my words as I think about the conversations I had with my children. I promise to tell you many words of love that are warm like the sun and sparkling like stars.
