Record Club Eighth Post📝 [Camping] April 11, 2020. It was the day I started my first camping trip. I kept putting it off because there were too many things to prepare, but when I couldn't go on my favorite trip due to COVID-19, I started naturally. After going to numerous campsites for 4 years and going through trial and error, I found my taste and settled on the few tents and supplies I have now. (At first, I was really into emotional camping, so I even carried a large speaker from home...) Except for the middle of winter, I went every month, and every week in the summer, so the tent felt like a second home. It's hard to get started, but once you try it, a different life unfolds. I wake up at 4:30 in the morning to the sound of birds and fall asleep with my kids when the sun goes down. As I get away from the city, I start to follow the laws of nature. I also become friendly with various bugs. The kids catch frogs, earthworms, and all kinds of bugs with their bare hands. (Thank goodness you didn’t ask me to catch you) The sound of flowing water in the valley, the sound of waves in the ocean, and the sound of insects in the forest are background music. When it rains, I fall asleep listening to the sound of rain pouring down on the tent, and after playing in the water and taking a shower, I read a book in the shade of the trees and fly a kite among the stars and moon high in the night sky. How delicious is freshly cooked rice and coffee made with a moka pot? Three meals a day become precious. After the kids became independent, I started looking forward to camping even more. Because we can all sleep snugly together. I tell them old stories and play the game of 20 questions, and before I know it, they fall asleep. (I like to tell them stories about a butt detective solving a case by farting in their face. My husband is a master of making up stories about farting.) The kids quickly become close friends and play with the friends they made at the campsite all day, so they often come to the tent only to eat and sleep. Thanks to this, I have more time to read books quietly. Books that I would have kept on reading for several days because I couldn’t make progress at home are now read quickly and I finish them in one day at the campsite. Reading in a place with good air and surrounded by trees while feeling the wind seems to help me concentrate. I become more careful when choosing books to read while camping. I choose books that match the location, and books that match the season and weather, and I get lost in pleasant worries. The books I choose and read that way stay in my memory for a long time. This is probably because I remember the sounds of birds and children’s laughter as I read the sentences, the greenery around me that I feel with my whole body, and the scent of grass carried by the breeze. I learned many things that I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t gone camping. I’m so glad that my family all likes camping. I want to spend more days together in nature.
