Record Club 9th Post📝 [Dawn] I discovered the joy of waking up at dawn and spending quiet time for myself. When my children were young, I suffered from lack of sleep and chronic fatigue, and I thought that the Miracle Morning was something that only happened to other people. Rather, I struggled to not fall asleep when my children slept, and when my children fell asleep, I would rub my sleepy eyes and spend my time alone, and then fall asleep at dawn. If I fell asleep with them, I would feel like an office worker who works overtime and goes straight to work in the morning, and the sadness of parenting without leaving work would well up inside me. Until then, I was convinced that I was a night owl because I was always tired in the morning. Even though I slept late and didn't get enough sleep, it was strange that I wasn't tired in the morning. I felt that I needed to change my lifestyle, but waking up at dawn was a difficult hurdle. After reading Haruki Murakami's <What I Want to Talk About When I Talk About Running>, I desperately wanted to wake up at dawn like that, but when I opened my eyes, it was morning. Who kept turning off the alarm? (Of course I am) Even after succeeding once or twice, I kept going back to the way I was before, and finally I can proudly say that I am a morning person. Reading <The Artist's Way> and starting to write morning pages opened the door to waking up early. My daily waking up routine is like this. I wake up at 5:50 and head to my small library in my house with a cup of warm barley tea. I open the window to ventilate. (When I breathe in the morning air, my mind becomes clearer.) I turn on only the floor light and incense, and start writing morning pages at 6:00 while listening to the birds. (The act of writing down the words as my thoughts flow and my hands go is meditation and a process of getting to know myself.) It takes about 40 minutes to write morning pages. After that, I read a book. At 6:30, I start to hear the sound of someone sweeping the apartment entrance with a broom, and between 6:45 and 7:00, Jiwoo, who doesn't sleep well in the morning, wakes up and comes into the room. (A human alarm clock that doesn't need an alarm) We read a book together, and at 7:30, I wake up Jisoo and get ready for school. After the kids go to school, I clean up the house, eat an apple, make coffee, and usually spread cream cheese on whole wheat bread for breakfast. When I exercise in the morning, take a shower, and return to a clean house, my body and mind feel light. I realized that I can start a refreshing day by pouring out my thoughts in my head and sweating through exercise, so I no longer have a hard time waking up early. My goal is to wake up at 5 a.m. and go to bed before 10 a.m. I'm satisfied with my lifestyle of focusing on important things in the morning and spending the afternoon leisurely with my kids. Today, I started my day listening to the sound of rain.
