Ep. 11 Furniture for Cats The brand I work for, 'Pipi', is a company that makes furniture with a young and fresh feel using iron materials. I mainly work on product design and graphic work, and I design not only general furniture but also furniture for pets. Since all of my co-workers raise cats, when making pet line products, we receive more active feedback than ever from the planning stage, and we are filled with passion for making good products. The first product, which comes out after many trials and errors and several rounds of sample work, is first sent to our house, where we have four cats, for testing. I personally use the cat furniture and place it in my house to check for any problems or inconveniences. Of course, it is important to be pretty, but in the end, 'Do cats use it well?' is the most important factor, so after closely observing the usability of children for a long time and correcting any areas that need improvement, the product is officially released. This process can take several months, and sometimes even years. These days, consumers have become very discerning and have strict standards for not only functionality but also design and aesthetic elements, so they do not prefer furniture that interferes with the interior. Therefore, my role and task is to design products that cats use so that they can beautify the space by harmonizing with other furniture in the house. The characteristic and advantage of the cat furniture we make is that we make it simple by excluding unnecessary decorations as much as possible, so that it does not look out of place even when mixed with regular furniture. I think the products are made more meticulously because we always assume that I am the first consumer and approach the design with the belief that 'let's not make things that I don't want to have.' It takes a lot of effort and time to create a single product, but making furniture for cats is always an enjoyable and exciting task. Above all, I feel a great sense of accomplishment because I can provide cats with a comfortable rest.
