The ninth thing I like: things that aren’t standardized. That’s how I am, after all. From the one-person sofa with its unique volume to the sofa table, mirrors in the living room and bathroom, and pendant lights on the dining table, when I look around the house, I see irregular shapes everywhere. I wonder if they added a witty variation to the boring, square apartment structure. When and why did I start liking irregular shapes? The familiarity of irregular, imperfect shapes strangely resembles me. A perfect shape can be unsettling at some point, but if it’s an irregular shape to begin with, how can I feel at ease? You and I are not perfect, but when we’re together like this, we somehow feel a sense of kinship, and it seems okay to live together while refining each other’s shapes.
