DIY interior windows We made a DIY window frame for our Japanese-style room! My wife came up with the idea of making a modern shoji-like design, so we decided to make one right away using some leftover wood. We used a lattice pattern as the base, with narrow vertical spacing on the left half, and split the right half into three parts, top and bottom. This alone is quite Japanese, so we paneled the bottom half and painted it emerald green. We used thin pieces of lumber to give it a modern look.
