I think the most central space in an elementary school child's room is the desk. Since most of the time they sit at the desk, I pay attention to making sure they can focus on their studies. Since they use laptops and pads a lot, I put a wide desk and a useful reading stand so that they can use it comfortably, and my child likes it and says it's comfortable. I clean up any messy things and put any visible clutter in the desk drawer so that it can be organized as neatly as possible.
