Since my first child was little, I've been trying to make it a habit before bedtime, like reading a book is bedtime!!! I've been reading a short book every night before bedtime.. Also, my child's daycare homework(?) is reading a book, and we have to read one book a day and write the title and author in the book, and it definitely helps develop the habit of reading books. Before your child goes to bed, put books on a small bookshelf next to the bed and help them develop the habit of reading books through bedtime reading!
