Slowly getting darker, Machine's small room ‧˚₊*̥♡ #2024HouseoftheYear I've included the space I've been most attached to throughout the year. Since it's the end of the year, I'm going to write down my favorite rooms and thoughts from this year to wrap things up. 🤎 This is the bedroom where I spend the most time during the day. I'm definitely a maximalist, but I don't have many things in my room, so I thought maybe I don't need that many things. I have a wide and shallow curiosity, so I like a lot of things, but when I thought about what I can't live without, the keywords 'music' and 'photography' came to mind. At least these two things give me the passion to read all night long. Even though I'm a night owl, I wake up early without an alarm, wanting to play the guitar as soon as possible, and I feel joy in editing the overflowing moments of my daily life that I've taken all night long. When I combined these two, I realized that I was the happiest and most immersed when I ‘captured and enjoyed music with a camera.’ For example, this is what it looks like. - Filming a scene where everyone sings along with their cell phone flashes at a concert hall. - Collecting albums that are played over and over again until they’re all over the place, and taking pictures of them. - Filming a video of myself playing a song I practiced for three days on the guitar in a corner of a nicely decorated room. Now, I’ll share stories from every corner of the room filled with music and pictures! 👇🏻 📌[Postcard] Even when I put out a single prop, there’s nothing ‘just’ about it. Each piece has its own reason. When I put my own story in an object, I feel like I’m completely absorbed into the room. It’s really fun to give meaning to even the little things in life. That’s why I’m attracted to postcard interiors. Postcards are items that vividly remind me of where and how I collected them, and how I felt when I got them. - I bought an out-of-print album second-hand with difficulty, and I got the random postcard I wanted - I bought a postcard as a souvenir at a Japanese bookstore, but the clerk slowly and carefully wrapped it for me, which made the kraft paper bag look even prettier - There was a vintage shop pamphlet under the window of a pencil shop where customers had drawn and drawn with pencils about the charm of pencils Since it was a small room, I thought that if I decorated the door like a wall, I could use the real wall differently, so I put the postcards on the door! 📌[Magazine Rack and Albums] Honestly, I still listen to music through apps because of the sound quality, but I think I started collecting albums because I wanted to physically own the emotions I like. If you look at and listen to things you like often and for a long time, you will be happy often and for a long time. So I used a magazine rack to put the pretty covers in front so that they would stand out. It has good storage capacity, and the dark walnut color holds the weight just right, so I think the albums look harmonious. I decorated the side wall shelf with the ‘Album of the Month’ feel! 📌[Plants and Posters] I collect words that I want to keep and cherish for a long time, and I think the word ‘fresh’ is really good because I like summer. If I think of it as a color, it’s green. That’s why I started collecting things that are colored green. 1. Fresh flowers and harmony I get a lot of strength from the vitality that plants give me. If I give them too much attention, they get sick, but if I look closely, they sprout new shoots and grow quietly, which is great. I’m taking care of small plants, but it feels like they’re taking care of me, so I feel comforted. I put a few artificial flowers in the shady corners that I don’t pay attention to to add freshness. 2. Green sofa (product provided) When green and fabric meet, it gives a fresh feeling as well as a sense of coziness. In winter, the corduroy texture is soft, so I sit on the sofa longer than on the bed. These days, my greatest joy is sitting on this sofa, playing the guitar, or organizing photos and videos from this year. 3. <Letters Written in Light> Poster Since I keep taking and editing photos, I tend to look at my daily life like a camera lens. It’s the moment when I think, ‘This is going to look pretty right now.’ In particular, I can’t help but feel like I can’t pass up the scene where the warm light of the late afternoon spreads and the trees, roads, and buildings turn a soft yellow. This poster caught my eye because it captures that image. It even has handwritten lettering that someone must have written themselves. In addition to this, I’m collecting green hats, green masking tape, Hong Kong posters, and books with green covers! Haha - I have so many questions about the world, but this year, I’m happy that I’ve been able to make a strong exclamation mark by recording the space in Today’s House. I’m going to continue to live while receiving the power that space gives me! I hope many people feel happiness through home decoration..😚 🤎 Lastly, I will introduce a passage about 'taste' that I read in a book that I read to find an answer to the question 'what is individuality?' :) In order to enrich your life, you have to find your own taste. And to do that, you have to be honest with your own senses. You shouldn't be pressured by others' evaluations or gazes, or chase after things that are easy to show off on SNS. You need to make an effort to develop your taste in order to deeply enjoy your own taste, but taste itself is not something you develop, but something you feel. I like exhibitions more than performances, I like cheerful entertainment movies more than sad movies, and I like pork ribs and cold noodles more than steak and wine. What each of us needs is not a plausible taste to write in the 'hobby' section of our self-introductions, but a personal taste that will enrich our daily lives. That's where the charm and romance of life lies.
