Nouveau | Reflections on Parenting and Work A while ago, my pregnant friend came to my house. I thought it would be good to give some helpful tips to a friend preparing for childbirth, so I invited her to introduce some parenting items that I liked and to talk about various things related to childbirth. As soon as she arrived, she said, “This is the first time I’ve seen a house where I’m raising a baby this pretty!” I felt embarrassed but also happy when I heard that. There are many things that I have to compromise on aesthetics for the safety and convenience of a child while raising a child, so I thought that I was living by finding a compromise, although it was regrettable. But when my friend said that to me in such a surprised way, I felt grateful and comforted. There are times when I feel like this house is like me struggling and compromising between work and childcare, and I feel like it's telling me 'it's okay, it's okay', and I feel so comforted by those words:) These days, especially when I'm juggling childcare and work, and both are not perfect, and I have many moments when I feel upset, but I try to tell myself that I'm doing well and that it's okay, and move forward.
