#살림살이 Upon entering the front door, there's a double door separating the shoe cabinet from the main room. Because it's an old-fashioned double door, it allows for good ventilation, so I used to put up thick, quilted curtains like this in the winter. The key is summer! This room is also the furthest from the air conditioner, and because it faces north, it's the coolest part of the house. So, if you spend the summer in the study, it's cool even without air conditioning. However, thanks to the thick, fleece-like curtains I put up in the master bedroom during the winter, the cool air from the air conditioner that stayed cool all night is much cooler during the day, even with the air conditioner off, than here on the north side. I got a circulator this year, and I'm thinking about keeping the double door curtains on until summer.
