I think empty space needs to be filled to make it more enjoyable. I used to put a plant there, but when I put it close to the sun, the color turned yellow (Monstera). It was too empty to keep it empty, so I filled the space with an IKEA side table and mirror. I made a cube by attaching a mirror to the table legs as a frame. I didn't know...
