One day, I saw on Pinterest that the legs of the IKEA Lark table were moved to the center, and I remembered it because it was a simple yet innovative idea. However, because it was small, it was too minimal, so I combined two of them and put a table top on them to make a sofa table. The IKEA Lark table has a square size of 55cm and 35cm, but the 55cm would probably wobble when the legs were moved to the center, so I went with the 35cm! I’m into red these days, so I painted it in a dark red with a hint of magenta, and it looks so pretty. The process was as simple as I expected, and the actual work itself was labor itself. Haha <What you need> 1. Ordered two 35x35cm Lark tables from the IKEA website. 2. I don’t know much about the material for the solid wood table top, so I just ordered the most commonly used non-laminated wood. (Search for solid wood top and order from the most noticeable 'Withrow'.) (Size is 18T / 45x75cm) 3. Painting tools - Benjamin Moore Regal High Build (low light) 1L / Exotic Red 2086-10 - Primer: Benjamin Moore Multipurpose Primer 1L - 4-inch short-hair tool set (1 unit), 4-inch short-hair roller cover (2 units), 1-inch back brush (2 units), 220-grit, 600-grit sanding sponge <Process> 1. The solid wood top is particularly rough, so sand it thoroughly and wipe it clean. (Sanding helps the primer and paint soak in smoothly.) 2. Prime twice at 3-4 hour intervals and let it dry for a day. (When painting with primer, first paint the corners and bends with a small brush, then apply the wide area with a short-hair roller to avoid leaving marks and to make it neat.) 3. When painting, apply the paint sufficiently to the roller and rub it several times on the tray to avoid excessive application. This will allow for a thin layer and a neat finish. 4. Paint was applied twice at 3-4 hour intervals, and then applied once more the next day. (For darker colors, apply 3-4 times to ensure good color development without marks.) 5. It is recommended to completely dry for more than 2 weeks, but I left it for a few days to take pictures and then put the table top on. (Be careful.) 6. Originally, I was planning to fix the table top, but since the lacquer table is pretty to use separately, I will put it on for now and use it later with glue. It took about a week because I had to apply the paint while drying it on the top, bottom, and sides. After that, you have to dry it for about 2 weeks to avoid any unfortunate incidents like it getting stuck or peeling off, so keep drying it. My family says that you are the best at buying and giving me a thumbs up, but I always enjoy the results of this hard work, so I look for the next hard work.
