In my house, the bedroom is right next to the kitchen, a highlight. Every time I cook, smells easily enter the room, so I always kept the bedroom door closed. But that made the small space feel even more cramped. After much deliberation, I decided on a curtain! With the door open and the curtains up, I can block out cooking smells, and enjoy the sunlight streaming in through the window. The house feels much more open, and the air feels more airy.
