I refurbished a living room cabinet I got through Carrot Sharing. The exterior was dingy and dirty, so I was skeptical of its usability. But the drawers were in excellent condition, the interior was clean, and most importantly, it was a sturdy piece of solid wood. First, I filled in the scratches and handle holes with putty, then painted it with matte black enamel paint and finished it with oil-based varnish. Finally, I added a cute new handle, and it completely transformed. No matter how hard I searched, I couldn't find a living room cabinet I liked.
