It seems the swelteringly hot summer is finally passing. The morning sun is blinding. The sunflowers and cosmos seeds that bloomed last year are sprouting and blooming here and there as we work on the yard. I'm waiting to see the flowers and tidy them up, afraid they'll be uprooted if I trim the lawn. Between the cosmos, which will decorate the dazzling autumn days, and the sunflowers, which bloom beautifully against the sun, I'm enjoying the passing summer, looking forward to the day when I can have a grilled shrimp party with friends at the table as autumn approaches.
