Now that I've completed my last trip before the semester starts, things are getting really hectic. So, before things get too hectic, I'd like to take a closer look at some of the props, artwork, and paintings. Today, I'll start with a frame I bought at a flea market and the process of refurbishing it. Food Shipment (Embarquement de vivres) Etching (Gravure) Engraving by Jacques Philippe Le Bas Original by Nicolas Berghem Paris, circa 1782. I didn't buy it knowing this much about it, but I remember seeing it by chance at a flea market and being so captivated by the unique feel of these prints that I went back and thought about it for a while before buying it. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was around 30 euros...? At first, the frame was broken here and there, and the painting didn't look that great. But I loved it so much that I thought, "If I buy it and refurbish it, maybe I can fix it somehow." This became my first attempt at refurbishing a frame. The fourth photo isn't an exact photo, but I remember finding it in a pile of frames. 5. After buying it, I disassembled and cleaned it, then removed the painting from the background paper and pasted it onto new paper. 6. I filled in any broken parts with putty, and after it dried, I sanded it endlessly! 7. I don't have any pictures of the rest, but after sanding and thoroughly drying, I applied ash and painted it matte black. And then I reassembled itโand it was done!
