As each year passed, putting away all the complicated decorations felt like a hassle, so I considered, "Should I not put up the tree this year?" But then I decided I had to put up the tree anyway, and I grabbed the tree bag from the utility room. Every Christmas since I moved in, I unpacked all the decorations I'd collected, and memories of Christmases past came flooding back.
