#2025올해의집 A tranquil stone-walled house brimming with Jeju-style romance, where everyday life feels like a journey Hello :) I'm Song Yu-jeong, a "traveler and homebody," who loves traveling more than anyone else, but also cherishes and cherishes the time I spend at home the most. Having traveled to over 30 countries during two round-the-world trips, I've personally experienced the profound sense of security that comes from having a place to return to, and the precious meaning of "home." Last year, I married my husband, a similarly homebody, and after quitting my job, we traveled together. Now, we're a couple in our 30s preparing for a new life in Jeju. Since January of this year, we've been looking at houses all over Jeju. We've seen a total of 11 properties, from old stone-walled houses to apartments and villas. When we finally saw this house, my husband and I both thought, "This is where we're going to live." The reason we chose this house was simply that we wanted to live "in Jeju." We were certainly grateful to be able to start our new home in a newly built apartment near the subway station. However, rather than a neat and uniform space, we were more drawn to a house with its own unique shape and structure, each with its own story. We wanted a quiet place free of noise, and since we're always happy with even a ray of sunlight, a house with good lighting would be ideal. We wanted to see nature through the windows—whether it be a stone wall, the ocean, or trees—and we wanted the house to feel connected to it. The yard surrounded by a stone wall, a tangerine tree lovingly planted by the owner, the trees and distant ocean beyond the window, a small terrace, and a cozy interior where the sunlight lingers. This house quietly yet clearly embodied all our desires. Even though it was a short-term stay in Yeonse, we were so excited to experience the four seasons that we decided to live here. On a flower-filled April day, we moved to Jeju. The experiences in this small yard—the warm sunlight, the cool sea breeze, the occasional sound of airplanes, even the chirping of birds beyond the Jeju stone walls—everything is so perfect. As we step out into the backyard, grill meat, and enjoy a fire under the stars, moments pile up that make us realize, "This is the Jeju life we've always dreamed of." It's not just the space that makes this house so special. The stylish old lady who owns the house said she planted all the tangerine trees in the front yard and the back yard herself. On the day of the forestry, she offered me a tangerine that had fallen in the strong wind, smilingly saying, "You can take it all," and she generously provided me with the tools I need for housekeeping. Thanks to her warm heart, I naturally thought, "This is a great start to my life in Jeju," and this house has become a place where both space and people are remembered. And in the eight months I've lived here, I've met more wonderful people than I expected. Even though we came to Jeju without any prior connections, relationships developed naturally, from our neighbors to the people we met in passing. I felt that the atmosphere and environment of the house created a positive flow for us. The process of finding a home was ultimately a time to clearly understand what we like. During our short stay here, we want to experience the changing seasons closely and enjoy a Jeju life that feels like being immersed in nature. If we look at Airbnb's message, "Travel is living," in reverse, it becomes "Living is traveling." That's how we, as travelers, live our everyday lives as if we were traveling. Based on our experiences here, we hope to one day create "our own home," hand-picked, renovated, and maintained. We hope to become a little stronger and stay in Jeju for a long time :) 📍 Key Features of This Home! ✔ Living room with a full-length window overlooking the stone wall✔ Sensational objects placed throughout the house✔ Bedroom with a corner window as a focal point #JejuIslandHouse #제주집 #제주살이
