In elementary school, we were required to read one book a week and submit a reading log, but it seems like it's realistically difficult to teach middle school students this. They're also very busy. So, I've been reading the same books with my children at home and writing down short thoughts as a post-reading activity. I told them it was okay to write in any notebook, and they gave me a torn-up worksheet, or they wrote it in a drawing book. I thought it would be nice to write it in a reading log. Then I discovered the "Fruit Fries Notebook." I prepared a reading card with it, and it feels like a library card from my childhood.
