As we spend more time with our child, the role of the living room has changed a bit. It's both a place to relax on the sofa, and where most of the child's day unfolds. With white and cream tones as the base, we organized the space to reflect the cottage mood, and chose an open storage layout so the child can easily take out and organize things on his own. Seeing him choose books, take out toys, and move back and forth to the same spot several times a day, I think it fills the space even more. Rather than keeping it pretty, we're focusing on making the living room comfortable for our child.
