It's been cold for a while, and the air quality has been terrible, making ventilation difficult. It's the first morning I've had the windows open in a while. The potted plants that were left outside during the bitter cold are all huddled together in a corner. The kids couldn't resist picking one of the ripe red berries, and the flowers were blooming so much that I thinned a few out, and the once lifeless tomatoes are ready to bear fruit again, even in this dead of winter. The little tomatoes, always fulfilling their duty, make me think of all sorts of things. Tomorrow, the long-awaited shelf unit will arrive, and this life of stacking books will be over. It's not quite as organized, but it was fun to see the kids freely picking out books from the piles on the floor. The house, with only two days left, with remnants of Christmas still lingering everywhere, let's try to capture that mood that excited us for a while. Have you all put up the tree?
