Day 2 of spending Christmas with my partner's family Today, we visited my partner's grandmother's house. From what I've seen, my partner's grandmother is a truly excellent cook. She's from Normandy and has lived here ever since. At first, I thought French food was incredibly delicious. I visited last year and saw the dishes she prepared every day, and they were truly delicious. But to me, it was a Northern French home-cooked meal, a testament to my grandmother's meticulous nature and planning. The salad was a refreshing yet not-too-heavy appetizer, made with beets, pea shoots, avocado, and eggs, boiled for three hours. The main course was veal. To make it even more filling, she prepared boiled beans and chestnuts alongside it. It was filling and perfectly seasoned, even without rice. For dessert, we had dark chocolate French pastries.
