January 1, 2026, Noon This morning, after regretfully seeing off the end of 2025, no noticeable changes. I still stayed up late into the night, and woke up on the sofa with my children, who are now 15 years old. But I feel more peaceful. Instead of making grand resolutions for the new year, I'm making a mental note of two things I can quickly put into practice. One is to read more books more often. And the other is something I've always hesitated to do because I felt I couldn't— to take the initiative and approach people I want to become close to. Today, I tried one of those things for the first time. The moment I returned to a warm story, the time I spent worrying about it was in vain. I felt both grateful and embarrassed. Rather than making grand changes, I'm focusing on taking small, concrete steps one by one. By completing one thing like breaking a seal, and slowly moving on to the next, I hope that by the end of this year, I'll be able to speak a little more gently, and a little less fearful.
