Here are four layouts I personally tried with my black sofa. 1) Straight-Across-the-Wall Layout (The Most Basic and Standard) • Characteristics: This is the most classic layout, with the sofa against one wall in the living room. • Sense of Space: This layout maximizes the space in the center of the living room, making it a popular choice for 84-type apartments. The solidity of the black sofa is supported by the wall, creating a sense of stability. • Tip: To avoid a bare wall, hang a large picture frame above the sofa or place a standing lamp next to it to distract the viewer. 2) Straight-Across-the-Window Layout (Open and Cafe-Style) • Characteristics: Instead of facing the TV wall, this layout places the sofa against the window. • Sense of Space: Instead of facing the TV, the view outside the window or the living room interior creates a more relaxed, cafe-like atmosphere in your home. Sunlight illuminates the texture of the black sofa, making the material appear even more luxurious. • Tip: The backrest of the sofa shouldn't be too high to maintain a sense of openness without obstructing the view outside the window. 3) Separated modular layout (center of conversation and communication) • Characteristics: If the sofa is modular, separate it into two and place it facing each other. • Spaciousness: This is the most sophisticated layout, breaking the stereotypical living room structure. It creates a lounge-like feel, ideal for conversation with family or guests, rather than focusing on TV viewing. • Tip: Placing a low coffee table in the center visually stabilizes the center of gravity, creating a more stable living room interior. 4) Kitchen-facing layout (space separation layout) • Characteristics: Place the sofa in the center of the living room, with the back facing the kitchen. • Spaciousness: The sofa itself acts as a partition, clearly separating the kitchen and living room. Its large size of 2900mm creates a sense of spaciousness, not clutter. • Tip: This is recommended for sofas with a beautiful back design. Attaching a slim console behind the sofa and decorating it with accessories will enhance the interior's overall look. The greatest charm of interior design is how the same space can transform into a cafe or a cozy lounge just by placing the sofa there. I thought arranging the black sofa would be difficult, but it was a fun experience, as the weight and mood it imparted to each space were completely different.
