If you match the colors and tones of your materials, new furniture and accessories will blend in naturally without clashing with your existing items. Second, fill empty spaces with plants. I think plants can warm up a dull, cold space. Third, try to hide everything as much as possible. Outlets, wall panels, and even the refrigerator. I've found peace of mind by covering things I don't like in various ways.
