From Small to Large: Moving the Child's Space After giving birth, we used the small room as the child's room. It was a comfortable sleeping space, but as she became more active, the play area felt increasingly cramped. The large room was previously a workspace, but we converted it into the child's space to allow her more freedom of movement. We moved all the toys, storage, and bookshelves we had previously used into the room. (The bookshelf isn't visible in the photo, but it's already there.) We arranged the space around the child's movement by placing a slatted wall and a low bed, and by connecting it directly to the living room, the space naturally feels expanded. Now that we share the living room and the child's space, our space and the child's space feel connected rather than separate.
