I wanted to create a separate reading space for my kids, so I decorated a corner of the living room like a small kids' library :) I placed the low storage cabinets at eye level so they could easily take out and organize their books. I also placed an ivory rug in front, creating a natural, demarcated space that said, "This is my reading nook." The rug is thick and fluffy, so it's comfortable to sit on, and the kids can sit on it for long periods of time without feeling uncomfortable. Seeing my two kids sitting side by side reading books, I realized the power of space. With organized storage and a cozy floor mat, the atmosphere in my home has become much warmer. It's a living room, but it feels like the kids' space has naturally seeped into it.
