Rather than creating a separate play area for the kids, I placed a small table in a corner of the living room. This allowed the kids to focus on their play, and Mom, while doing chores nearby, felt like we were spending time together. Painting and tactile play on the trays reduces the burden of cleanup, so I often find myself using them these days.
