After much deliberation, instead of installing a door, I placed a low shoe cabinet and installed a slatted partition above it. I applied adhesive film to the front door and covered the old electrical box with a non-drilling cover. Since the entrance is directly connected to the living room, I placed an air purifier here. It also serves as a greeting spot for my cat, so her favorite scratching post is located there as well. The last photo shows the entrance as it looked when I first moved into this house. That shoe cabinet has since been moved to another room and is now being used as a storage cabinet, haha.
