The desk and shelf I inherited and am currently using are about 15 years old. Perhaps because they have been used so carefully for two generations, there isn't even a single noticeable scratch, and they are a piece of furniture that I never get tired of looking at 😌 I once heard the difference between vintage and second-hand items: if something has been well-loved, it is vintage, and if it has been used roughly, it is second-hand.
