This is a review based on my personal experience using and styling the product, which was provided through the #FiveSensesReview program. I usually enjoy Mapo Tofu and seek it out often, but the Ottogi Roy & May Sichuan Mapo Tofu I tried this time exceeded my expectations :) The fact that it captures the exact recipe of a famous restaurant made me very excited even before I started eating. The first thing that impressed me was the numbing and spicy flavor. It wasn't just simply spicy; the pleasant numbing sensation characteristic of Sichuan cuisine was perfectly preserved, so I felt like my stress was completely relieved the moment I took a bite :) It is a magical taste that is not overly stimulating yet highly addictive, making you finish a whole bowl of rice in no time. Also, despite being a retort product, the texture of the tofu was truly excellent. Usually, tofu in products like this tends to get mushy, but this product had very firm and elastic tofu, making it fun to chew. The harmony of the savory sauce and the firm tofu made me feel like I was eating a dish freshly prepared at a professional Chinese restaurant :) It is easy to prepare, yet the depth of flavor is by no means light, making it the perfect choice for days when you crave something spicy or want to enjoy a special meal!
