Tips for Measuring Your Own Home in 20 Minutes Here is the key measurement checklist I used. Search for @zoa_zoa_yo on Instagram. Supplies: 5m tape measure, smartphone, floor plan, 3-color pen, checklist 1. Taking Photos by Space Take photos in the order of entrance, living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Take from left to right so that the entire space is visible. For the ceiling, make sure to capture the lighting, ventilation fan, etc., in the entirety. Set a reference point when taking photos so you won't get confused when looking back. 2. Measuring Key Dimensions Get the floor plan from the management office and take it with you. Mark the dimensions on the plan, focusing on the main spaces like the living room, master bedroom, and kitchen. Don't forget to check the ceiling height! If you have a laser meter, it saves time and ensures accurate measurements. 3. Checking Plumbing and Electrical Systems Now it's time to take close-up shots. Take photos of the plumbing in the kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom. Make sure to also photograph the boiler manifold and electrical distribution box, which are often hard to see! Please mark the locations of electrical outlets on the floor plan using colored pens. If there are any signs of leakage, taking a picture is essential, right? It is recommended to work in a team of two for measurements!
