Given my personality, where I need everything organized to feel at ease, I think I made the right decision buying a desk and bookshelf set that allows me to keep books and my laptop separate. Since it's matte white, it seems to go well with everything! The IKEA lamp hasn't broken down and I've been using it for years; the brightness is just right, so I seem to always keep it on in the afternoons.
