Now that I’ve returned to work, I’m painfully realizing why being a working mom is so hard. (I’ve decided to take my parental leave for as long as possible…) In a US TV series I enjoy watching, there are stories about working moms struggling to balance childcare and work. My mother-in-law tells me this: “Let me tell you a secret. There is no balance. It’s juggling. The balls are bound to fall, and all you can do is pray they bounce back up. People around you will help you with the juggling.” If a ball falls while juggling, you just pick it up again. I want to do well at both childcare and work while gratefully accepting the help around me. Yesterday, feeling lighthearted, I organized the kitchen and even rearranged the layout for the first time in a while.
